About
Upright, crunchy lettuce with sweet flavor and good heat tolerance for a lettuce.
Growing
Sow in spring and fall. Mulch to keep roots cool. Will bolt and turn bitter in heat.
Harvest
Pick outer leaves once they reach 4–6 in, or cut the whole head at the base when it's 6–8 in tall and feels firm and dense. Choose crisp, deep-green upright heads; harvest before the core starts to elongate (the first sign of bolting), which turns the leaves bitter. Cut in the cool of the morning.
